WaveImplant reinforces its management team with the arrival of Thierry Toubiana as Vice-President Business Development & Marketing

Nantes, France: January 20th, 2021

WaveImplant, an innovating Medtech start-up, recently secured the services of Thierry Toubiana, Senior Executive and professional renowed in the dental implantology field.

Following their development and financing plan, WaveImplant and its founders (i.e. Guillaume Haïat and Pascal Breton) will be able to count on the collaboration of Thierry Toubiana that recently joined the management team bringing his expertise in marketing and sales.  Thierry Toubiana will allow to perfectly prepare and secure the commercialization of ImplantUS by the end of 2023.

Thierry has thirty years of experience in the field of medical devices, especially in the dental field.  He is the former CEO of BioHorizons France, a premium American company on the dental implant market, recently absorbed by Henry Schein, a major player in implantology.  Thierry Toubiana holds an MBA from the French Institute of Management (Paris & Lyon, France).  He had a long international carreer and held various commercial positions in MIS Implant System, Allergan, SOFRADIM Vascular, Angiosonics, Conceptus and Ethicon Endo-Surgery (J&J group).  This first key recruitment, early identified as a priority, completes the set of driving skills required to meet the ambitious objectives of the company.

Pascal Breton, CEO of WaveImplant, declares: “We are particularly happy of the recognition and trust Thierry is showing to WaveImplant, bringing with him his international network he has developed during a dozen years in the clinical and industrial environments of dental implantology.  Undoubtedly, he fosters our human potential, allowing us to consider serenely the critical steps of pre-marketing, certification, and commercial launch”.

WaveImplant, a French Medtech startup specialized in the development and commercialization of decision-support medical devices, especially in the field of dental implantology, is focusing on the development of ImplantUS, a new ultrasound-based medical device emerging from the research work of the Guillaume Haïat’s team in the Laboratoire Modélisation et Simulation Multi-Échelle (MSME, UMR CNRS 8208, Créteil, France).  ImplantUS allows a better control of surgical procedures in dental implantology, which are more and more common, and offers a better guarantee of success on the short and middle term.

The worldwide dental implantology market is very attractive and currently weights €6.0 billion with a sustained annual growth of 8%.  However, around 10 to 20% of the dental implantology procedures lead to a failure which is highly detrimental for patients and dental surgeons.  In most cases, theses failures are the consequence of an insufficient osseointegration of the implant, and of a lack of stability.  Before loading the implant with the prosthesis, practitioners are looking for a reliable and precise estimate of implant stability.  However, the current approaches available do not bring a satisfying solution and leave a clearly unmet need that ImplantUS is to address.
